2022 events sneak peek
We’re so excited about the programme of events this year. So much to look forward to… here’s a sneak peek:
BOROUGH OF CULTURE
In case you haven’t heard… Lewisham is the London Borough of Culture in 2022! This means the borough will be buzzing with activity all year round with multiple events themed around the borough’s cultural diversity, Borough of Sanctuary for refugees and Climate change.
There will be some London Borough of Culture events at Beckenham Place Park this year and we’ll be sure to let you know after Day One of Lewisham’s Borough of Culture. Click on the link above for details.
MUSIC AND CINEMA
Naked City and Hospitality are back to Beckenham Place Park this year on 10, 11, 18 and 19 September (subject to licensing and council approval). Tickets will be released soon check here.
There will also be outdoor cinema experiences in the park. Watch this space for tickets to be announced soon!
MARKETS
2022 will be a big year for markets at BPP. From 6 March there will be a new weekly farmers market and a monthly makers market, as well as the vintage fair and other markets throughout the year. The Thursdays mini market in the courtyard will also return in the spring.
CONSERVATION AND NATURE EDUCATION
The Field Studies Council will again be offering a vast programme of outdoor education workshops and events to families and schools in Beckenham Place Park, including some free taster sessions during the school holidays as part of the wider Beckenham Place Park community programme.
COMMUNITY EVENTS
The Flower Show will be back on 31 July 2022 – save the date now!
#LoveBeckenhamPlacePark Community Day on Saturday 30 April
In February half term, make a bulb lasagne, a workshop for children aged 4-12 years. Book here
In Summer half-term we’ll have a Butterfly workshop for children and families (31 May, 10am – 12pm) and scarecrow making workshops in the community garden
#HumansofBPP2022 is a year-long photography competition.
Take part in the Great British Spring Clean by joining organised litter picks in Beckenham Place Park on 30 March and 5 April. See website for more details nearer the time.
SPORTS
New! 23 January is the launch event of the Junior Parkrun in Beckenham Place Park PP
New! 29 January SEAA’s Athletics Championships
Plus a 5k and 10k run in spring and Triathlon in summer
HEALTH AND WELLBEING
There will also be many free events run by local groups such as Healthy Walks, NCT walk for new parents, Men’s Mental health walks for emergency services staff, monthly family mindfulness walk and the Climate café in the Mansion – find these events here
